This Tuya universal infrared remote lets you control devices that use traditional IR remotes from your phone, such as TVs, air conditioners, TV boxes, set-top boxes, fans, DVD players, and other compatible appliances. It works over 2.4 GHz WiFi and is set up through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life apps. From the app, you can add compatible devices using the cloud infrared code database, control appliances remotely, create scenes, set timers, and automate actions together with other smart devices in the Tuya ecosystem. It also includes an IR learning function, allowing you to copy buttons from the original remote when a brand or model is not listed in the database. According to the seller description, the database includes more than 4,000 brands and over 50,000 IR codes updated from the cloud. The device emits a 360-degree omnidirectional infrared signal with a stated range of up to 8 meters and an IR frequency of 38 kHz. It is not compatible with devices that use RF, Bluetooth, or radio-frequency remotes, so it only works with appliances controlled by infrared. It can be used with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri through compatible shortcuts or automations, allowing voice commands such as turning on the TV or adjusting the air conditioner temperature. Because it uses infrared, each unit only controls devices in the same room, since the IR signal does not pass through walls.
