ORICO DS200U3
Orico · DS200U3
The ORICO DS200U3 is a desktop external enclosure that holds up to two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives. It's designed to expand storage, perform backups, repurpose internal drives, or provide a simple USB-connected mass-storage solution. Its magnetic top cover opens and closes without screws, making disk installation and replacement easier. It also supports hot-swap, so drives can be connected or removed without shutting down the host, provided the operating system supports it and the drive is safely ejected. Connection is via USB 3.0 with a theoretical speed of up to 5Gbps. The DS series manual indicates compatibility with SATA3.0 and the UASP protocol, so it can deliver better performance than a basic USB enclosure when used with compatible systems. Still, as a USB 3.0 5Gbps device, actual performance depends on the installed drive, the host's USB port, the cable, and whether one or two drives are being accessed simultaneously. According to the official specs, it supports up to 20TB total, with a maximum of 10TB per drive. It is not a RAID enclosure: each drive is handled independently by the operating system unless software RAID is configured on the computer or server. Power is supplied by a 12V4A external adapter, needed to reliably power two 3.5-inch mechanical drives. It includes a blue status LED, an intelligent power-saving spin-down feature, and an ABS housing with compact dimensions of 140 x 90 x 185 mm. It is not a smart-home or network appliance: it has no Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, built-in NAS functionality, hardware RAID, or native remote access. It works as USB external storage connected to a PC, mini PC, compatible NAS, Proxmox server, Raspberry Pi, or similar device.
